Light fitting

Im currently trying to fit a new light fitting and am confused, the connector already in the ceiling has seven slots. the first has a red and black wire, 2nd has one red, 3rd has two reds, 4th has two black, 5th has one black, 6th has two green and 7th has 2 green. I dont know which ones to connect the new light too, any help is appreciated

Hi Jamie,

You need the use the earth and then the neutral and the switched live-

The neutral should be the terminal with the two blacks in it and the switched live should be the red and black wire.

Before you dismantle anything, find out where the exsisting bulb is connected, if possible, these two connections (switched live & Neutral) will be where you connect the new light bulb to.

keep all the other connections as they are, in a terminal block. 8-)

1 Red & Black = Switched live >>>>> BULB LIVE
2 one Red = ??
3 Two Reds = Perm Live
4 Two Blacks = Neutral >>>>>> BULB NEUTRAL
5 One black = ??
6 Two Greens = Earth
7 Two Greens = Earth

I would GUESS this is the most we can work out... from your description, as Markie says, a picture of existing would be helpful.
