corner tiling

I'm tiling around my bath, I've put all the full tiles in place now and have left the awkward cut tiles until last. I have seen a video about corner tiling but wanted to remind myself about the best technique - sadly I couldn't find the video so I thought someone might put me right on here or give me the link to the video on youtube. From what I remember you are not butt the tile up against the corner but leave a gap roughly the thickness of the tiles you are using. When both corn tiles are in place simply fill the gap with plumbers gold or simpler silicon. Does this sound correct ? Or is there some sort of trim I could use to hide my badly cut tiles......Thanks in advance for your answers

You cut the first tile in leaving a 3 or 4mm gap to the wall and then the second tile has a 2mm or 3mm gap into the corner.

Haven't got a clue what plumbers gold is.

You use a coloured silicone to match the grout or tiles. If using a standard colour then Dow Corning 785 is preferable.


Cuts should be done as you are doing the main bulk of the tiling. This avoids any lipping issues, which you may now encounter and be stuck with unless you start pulling tiles off.

Youtube, I am afraid, is not always the best place to seek guidance. If you haven't a clue about what you are doing then watching a video posted by a wind up merchant or equally clueless person is bound to happen to some people!
