Got to tile a feature column in a 300mm x 300mm glass mosaic ,which luckily are the same thickness a the main tile in a bathroom I am doing.
I try and stay clear of mosaic because I hate them, but can't get out of it.
Seen these in an early thread and are wondering are they worth buying

As the mosaics you have are the same thickness as the other tiles, I'd say avoid..those sheets add 3mm to the depth...
Just buy
a lot of tile spacers....

Those sheets strengthen the backing, which is only needed if they are cheap mosaics with poor backing and stuck on all p***ed.
With mosaics you should really use a 3mm trowel so adhesive doesn't get all over the show, so even if they are the same depth as the main field tile the difference in adhesive bed can make a difference. How you tackle it all depends on how much moasic there is. Is it a thin strip or large area?

Over the bath there is a vertical column of mosaic in the centre and the same where the radiator is going mate.
Tiles are from topps tiles
and they are 7mm thick same as the field tiles

Good tiler will get the mosaic on ok depending on the size of them. As Colour says though, ideally you want 3mm notch trowel for the mosaic.
Being Topps tiles, the mosaic will no doubt be 5hit. Never had ones from them that are sited well on the backing mesh.
You do have the option of using the plastic backer and then using a 3mm notch trowel for the mosaic and then using a 8mm notch trowel for the main tiles. That should bring about a flush finish. You obviously want a cement based adhesive for the tiles anyway, because of size and being in a bathroom.

I would suggest to the customer that you use square edge trim between the field tiles and the mosaics (just tell them it looks loads better), if you do that then a slight variation in the depth of the mosaics and field tiles won't be as noticeable. you will need a 3mm notched trowel otherwise you will get adhesive squidging through the groul lines and it will be a mare trying to get it all out before you grout, a 3mm notch will get the mosaics flatter to the wall too. I wouldnt bother with spacers at all just put the sheets on so they look about right then stand back and look at them and adjust the spacing and square up and mosaics that are on the backing out of square. Nothing looks worse than spacers being used on mosaics that arent quite the right size, you can tell a mile off where all the individual sheets are on the wall
