Sealing patterned imprinted concrete drive

Post by ultimatehandyman »

I spent most of Saturday sealing the pattern imprinted concrete drive. This is the second time that I have sealed it in 12 months. A mate of mine installs PIC and he assures me that it has only required sealing so much because the previous occupiers had not sealed it regularly enough.

Last August it was power washed, then coated with xylene before applying a top coat of acrylic sealer mixed with xylene.

This year it was power washed again, then brushed clean on the day of application. I mixed the acrylic sealer with the Xylene and applied it using a soft broom. After the first coat was touch dry I applied the second coat.

It’s quite expensive to seal the drive and the total cost of materials was about £250, so I hope it does not need doing now for a couple of years!

That's quite a nice looking drive, good to see the expansion gaps in.

If they have the sealer when laid, they should look good for quite a few years.
