Iphone 5 searching
Upgrading to the Iphone 5 on the T mobile network was probably the worst thing I have ever done. Before T mobile became EE I had no problems with my phone, since switching to the I phone 5 and T mobile becoming EE I have had nothing but problems.
I can go for hours/days with no phone calls or text messages although the phone shows it is connected to the EE network. Switch the phone off and on and then I get text messages and voicemails from days/weeks previous!
As if that is not annoying enough it is almost impossible for anyone to reach me by mobile as they often can’t get through which means I miss out on work!
It’s criminal that I am paying £32 per month for a plan that is useless, I cannot use my text allowance, data allowance or call allowance because of the issues with the Iphone 5 and the EE network, which are widely reported all over the internet!
To make things even worse last night I was at a friend’s wedding party when I removed the phone from my pocket to call a taxi for a friend. I could not call him a taxi because in the left hand corner of the screen where the signal strength is it says “searching”. I went to bed last night at 1am and when I woke up at 7:30am I checked the phone again and it was still “searching”.
I have tried switching the phone on and off, switched on airplane mode and tried all sorts. I even went to Preston today and got the same problem there!
So for almost 24 hours the phone has been "searching"
I would call EE up and ask them for advice but the problem is that I am busy and have better things to do than ring up their customer service reps. The mobile phone is supposed to make my life easier, but it doesn’t because I am simply paying for something that is unusable. Tomorrow I am going to have to drive to the next town, pay to park the van then go to the EE shop- all of which takes time out of my working day.
Needless to say that I am very, very annoyed

Re: Iphone 5 searching
I swapped to tmobile after O2 were giving me no signal or internet anywhere. I have to say ee have been magic but the last few days my phone has not been receiving calls or texts and was unable to call,it just would say call ended as soon as I tried. Switched off and on and it was sorted.(iphone4s)
my wife has been having the same problems as you, searching all the time,no calls etc. on the advice of my pal who has an iphone 5(hers is the 5c) I went to the settings and if I remember correctly reset the carrier which was automatically set(to ee). After this was done she's had no bother.
The apple forum is not bad at giving advice,I've had a few problems with my ipad and the advice their is pretty good.
Good luck
Just to add when you reset these setting you have to enter your wifi passwords etc that are saved on the phone.

Re: Iphone 5 searching
Thanks, I tried that and it didn't work.
I then thought I'd try to update the phone to the latest software version before going to the store.
The phone then locked up and has now been rendered unusable. I called EE and they put me through to Apple, after a couple of hours on the phone I still can't do anything with it.
I think the best option might be to get a Nokia 3310

If you are after another phone, try this: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/motorol ... 4u-1709464
amazing phone for the cash....it's certainly turning heads. It's not top end, but for the price it's mental.

Re: Iphone 5 searching
Have you tried putting it in DFU mode and reloading the firmware?

There are much better articles but I haven't got time to look them out - on my iPhone

Re: Iphone 5 searching
Thanks for all the replies, I am not sure if it has just gone past the 1 year warranty period.
If I have to pay for a replacement or repair I might just sack it off and get a normal phone.
A mobile is supposed to make my life easier but I have wasted hours on this phone already. I have also missed tens of calls, which often mean lost work.
Because EE is such a useless network I never use the iPhone for anything apart from making calls and texting because if I try to surf the net using it I normally give up because it is so low or you can't even load the page.
I really don't have the time but I am considering taking legal action if necessary against EE, for their pathetic network coverage.
I'm now stuck with this error on the phone, which looks unfixable-
iPhone 1669 error

Lots of people I know with them LOVE them to bits.
I'm stuck in a place at the minute whereby my phone screen is amazingly clear, but too small, the tablet is ok but a pain to type with and the laptop is too slow (it's an i7, 8GB and SSD!!!!).
Give up, I do.
Got another tablet coming later this week though....

Mine still works OK, doesn't do any of the fancy stuff, just calls and texts.
PAYG, about £10 per annum.
One day it will all be firewood.
