So today I decided after MUCH putting off to sort the floor out in my office. The concrete slab that went down wasn't level (wasn't me), so I've got some SLC to whack down.

Being a mong face who is challenged by the simplest of things, I put too much water in. Oh joy of joy. It looked like water and had an oily look on the top.

Went all the way across town to get another one - not being 100% convinced that one is going to be enough anyhow, but the wife assures me - and got came back.

Walked into office and went to move the bucket....damn thing is setting!!!!!!!!!!!!

Arghhh.....why didn't I just chuck the bloody stuff down. I'm sure it would have dried, but took longer.....it's having a stupid floor on top anyhow.

That stuff sets by catalytic reaction and not by the water evaporating

Did you have to go back and buy another bucket?

It always would have set but how well it would have bonded is a different matter. TBH it's a good job you didn't put it down as you would be taking it back up again!

Missis is putting little man to bed and then SHE is going to put the water in the next bucket - will see if I manage to cock it up. Knowing my luck, I'll not have enough. I KNOW I should have got another (third ), but time will tell.......

Sounds like you're using a new bucket BG but if it's the old one it needs to be spotlessly clean or it'll set the new batch off very quickly

Could of used it as a design feature mate and put a plant in it
Any way good luck with the floor and hope you got enough, or someone will be wearing that bucket on their head

So to rescue myself, I need to get more (feck coat, I'm getting two buckets) of SLC from screwfix - the no nonsense stuff UHM used in his vids.

Do I now need to prime the floor/existing SLC - with what? Screw fix don't sell any I see to buy. Anything I could just get off the shelf in a normal shop?

That'll do it...Dilute as the tub says, leave to dry. The new slc should flow well then Ardex P51 would be better but that ain't off the shed shelf

Do I need to wait for the SLC to fully dry or can I do it this morning? How long does the SBR take to dry usually?

There were some pin holes Wes, but that's more than likely because I didn't bother to get a spiked roller. I've looked this morning, while it's not the best, it's taken a HUGE amount of the problem off the end of the floor.

I think another bucket will do it, but I'm going to get two just to be sure - just a case of when I'm allowed to apply it. Floor is hard now, which is a start.

Have to laugh.

Ordered 2xSLC and 1sbr. Error. Site crashed. Arsed.

Tried again....bank card was my old one.

Updated card, error - basket empty.

Added agaib, completed order - summary sent DOUBLE the price. Basket HAD kept first order so had 4 x SLC AND 2 x SBR.

its life's way of saying give up.

Mix with portland cement?? What for?? Do you need a slurry coat?? You're using it as a primer Dilute 1 sbr:4 water ish...Can't remember properly, don't use sbr for priming...Perhaps you're using it as a slurry as you're installing over a wet slc...Don't do it

I meant to mention you could do with leaving the original slc to dry properly anyway...P.S. You're slc might be dry now...My crystal ball ain't working

A spiked roller wont solve all your pin hole problems if the sub-floor is sucking like mad...Prime correctly and leave to dry. If you've not got a spiked roller (Just read you haven't, read last bit of edit below ), once you mix the slc, tap the side of the bucket for a few minutes. This will encourage the trapped air to come to the surface. Like taking the fizz from a can of coke
