Know what you mean about sudden movement, I got a bad case of whiplash back around August last year, mostly manageable, but if I have to squeeze under a kitchen sink to replace a tap (For instance) it comes back with a vengeance the next day and can stop me being able to anything sensible (Lifting/ twisting) for a few days.
Sudden movement and something goes "Crack" and sets you back another couple of days......

this i think goes back to an incident about 15 years ago setting up a cement mixer. the lad i was setting it up with hadnt locked it in place and when we stood it up it kicked back on the stand. he let go i didnt.
ever since then every so often i end up like this. there seems no obvious cause. anything can set it off. yet i can also play football and nothing affects me for sometimes months and months. every now and then it starts and gradually gets worse over a period of days. occasionally its so bad that on a morning to stand up i have to sort of slide out of bed and shuffle across the floor to a wall and stand up pressing my back into the wall.

I had real bother with my back several years ago, took a while to get going every day and getting in and out a car was torture. Kept going to my docs and they kept fobbing me off saying it's to do with heavy lifting etc. I went to a chiropractor and he said there was a problem with l3 and l4 of my spine and done some pulling and pushing. I went back to the docs got an X-ray at hospital and the chiropractor was spot on!! Turns out I had arthritis and was given the right tablets and I get very little bother at all now. I gave up playing golf which helped but the chiropractors are expensive but worth a shout in my opinion.

Acupuncture!
Done mine after football injury and going on physical training instructors course a week later against chiropractors advice.
Ruddy thing went on the last day, pulling a coat hanger out the locker pmsl. Then had to get home on a sports bike with a fully loaded SF bergen on my back.
Chiropractor worked on me for a few weeks and it wasn't helping much. She got me to see the acupuncture lady in the same place. One session and sorted.

went to see the dr this morning. he reakons ive damaged the large muscle in my shoulder/ neck.
its still real painfull. ive been given codine to take every four hours and told to take ibuprofen inbetween this.
have to see what its like now. i spoke to an osteopath yesterday and i can go see her if necessary tomorrow. theres a place in south shields i can go to that does accupuncture. could very well be worth a shot.
if id done this at football id not be too bothered. im just not sure whats set it off this time really.

Codeine makes me constipated.
I stick with Ibuprofen if I need anything like that.

Know how you feel mate, had a bad neck and back now for 25 years. The consultant who operated on me recommended me to a osteopath ,who has kept me working for 25 years.
But got to admit now its getting to a stage, where I don't know for how long

The FIRST time I had a trapped nerve it was i my lower back. I wike up with the most horrendous pain in my knee, I thought I was having a nightmare.
I eventually realised this was no dream, I managed to drag myself to the phone and for some strange reason I called a taxi not an ambulance.
I managed to go to hospital and they only managed to diagnosoe a trapped nerve and they recommended bed rest and physiotherapy.
Well I was in a wheelchair for eight weeks, managed to return to work, at that time I was working for RAC in the offices and the whole
place is wheelchair friendly. ShopMobility (a charity) were kind enough to loan me a wheelchair free of charge ( how nice of them) to enable me to return to work.
My leg was numb for about two years after that but eventually fully regained it's feeling. This Year on 2nd January I woke to find pain when walking on the other leg, fortunately wasn't too bad and anti-inflams sorted it within a few weeks. The physio was king of strange, I had to drop them and lay on my side on a couch, then the nurse came in and slapped me several times on the bottom. Wasn't so much a spank and a muscle manipulation. Pretty physio therapist though.
I suffered a collar bone area strain and I sympathise, this is such a painful area to have a trapped nerve or torn ligament or simply a strain. OUCH
This styaed with me for several months but gradually dissapeared.

after yesterdays pain and that i was well worried. any significant movement early in the day was helped by hugging a pillow. today its virtually gone. its mad. probably be totally gone tomorrow. it happens like this. its not half bloody painfull when it comes though. my mate was trying to get me to go out with him up to newcastle last night. i said no chance. he said ohh howay mannnnn ive just started as a taxi driver. i get a bad back just the same. ermmmm no mate no its not the same.
bloody well pleased its not been as bad as some of you guys have had it like
