Outside Light Problems

Post by gud98 »

Can anyone help please. I have an outside light which I guess works off a PIR detector, it comes on when someone comes to the door (if the switch in the porch is on)

recently it has started coming on, then after approx 1 sec, it gets dimmer and dimmer until it goes out completely after about 3 secs. I have changed bulbs but still have the same problem.

Anyone got any clues?

Thanks

strange one, i've never seen that.

a few questions to try to sort your problem out: -

1) when you say goes dimmer and dimmer, can you activate it to full brightness again if you wave your hands around infront of the sensor?

2) what time setting did you have on it

3) is it a B&Q light? (this one will answer all your questions if the answer is yes  )

The light doesn't come back on immediately if activated with hand after fading out. It does come back on after a few minutes though if you activate it but again for a couple of seconds till it fades out completely. Not sure of make or about timer. It was here when I moved in but been OK for 4 years only just started with this problem.

I can't see any timer anywhere on the light

Thanks

although i have never seen this happen i will still suggest the detector has died. they are cheap things to buy now and you will probably be better off getting a new one. messing about changing parts isn't cost effective in this case.
