What are the thoughts on this ?

My Dewalt combi is dying as apart from smelling a bit of burning when in use the batteries are only lasting about 20 minutes of work time so I think it is going to be a dumper. Had it since 2009 I think but it does not get day in day out use.

Having a quick look on SFD I saw this Hitachi http://www.screwfix.com/p/hitachi-dv18d ... rill/43195 and wondered what the thoughts are on it. It comes with 2 Li-ion batteries and all for £100 so seems good value.

I am undecided?

Thanks

DWD

You can't really go wrong for £100 - Hitachi stuff is usually good - have you found anything better for the price?

I bought an AEG for a bargain £85 off ebay last year with two 1.5 Li-ion batteries - it seems OK, can't find any at that price now.

I've a 18v combi with two 4ah lion batteries,it's a few quid over £200 and I've been really impressed with it. The hitachi for 100 quid seems good value,I suppose it depends how often and hard you use a cordless but the dewalt I'm using is light, powerfull and the batteries last forever.

ive been meaning to look for ages and the aeg i won on here a while back that has 1x 1.5 ah battery is the same now as dwd's it smells funny and the battery lasts only a short while.

i have a dewalt framing nailer but thats not gonna get day in day out use. and if im using that im not gonna be using a cordless. dunno how long lasting the dewalt 4 ah batteries will prove to be. but i was thinking about getting one of these

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DEWALT-DCD795 ... 3a8f0745bc

maybe handy if it came with a case then i could keep the charger and batteries with that and transfer them to the nailer as and when i need to

I've had one of those for three years, used hard (eg with a wire brush in the end for rubbing down railings) and it's just starting to give up- batteries fine but chuck getting a little wobbly. I will be getting another one as soon as I can afford. Unfortunately mine has the old clip batteries rather than the slide ones, so I won't have spares. However, the slide batteries do fit the whole range of Hitachi battery tools.
