keep them coming steve, brilliant work.

must be hard to raise those walls when youre walking around on joists instead of ply/osb, do you lay that after the walls are up?

The trusses were supplied by donalsons of buckhaven,200kg each to manhandle. The flooring goes down after the building is watertight,we just walk over the joists and try not to fall
This house we built on site as we do with nearly all the jobs, much cheaper than have a timber frame manufacturer supply the kit.

I laboured to some carpenters in the states for a summer many moons ago. over there they sheathed the floor after the joists went in, framed the walls on the floor the raised them, plumbed and straightened , osb, then next floor then ceiling and rafters. air guns going everywhere, was a real buzz.

thats all untreated timber- is there a reason for that? and the glulam beams, did you make those yourselves or get them in?
cheers

The way he's done it there looks like how the yanks do it (stick built)

JJI's are probably from donaldsons or national hickman

The timber is all treated c16 or c24,glue lams and jji's from donaldsons. This was stick built, you can do it with a 4.8 top and bottom runner so less panel joins and it saves a bit on 6x2.The paper can get done in one go as well so basicaly no waste and eliminates a join at every panel.

Have you got to put a top section on those Attic trusses?

That's a poxy job to do, I've only ever done one and I don't want to do another, ( don't like trussed roofs anyway).
One day it will all be firewood.

This kit comes under Perth and Kinross,it's got 145 kingspan inside and the windows hiked up the u value so it apparently didn't need the foil on the outside.
Those attic truss top hats were horrendous to do,every bloody hole was twist nailed by hand. 4000 nails in all.
400 m2 of sarking on the roof as well.
We have knocked up a few extension recently that have gone back to 4x2 kits for some reason??

4x2 with a 100mm cavity with 50mm wool in it. Current regs now I believe every new build has changed to that. Firestops then a firebag stapled to it.

I've got a paslode twist nailer but if the apprentices are available then saves on nails
