I have just steamed the old wall paper of my bathroom wall ready to tile and found the someone in the past has painted the wall lime green now most of the paint has come off but there is still a bit left will it be OK to tile over it

Try sticking some masking tape on it......leave it for a couple of days..remove, if thepaint comes off with the tape then you'll need to strip the paint off...
Personally I'd just score the surface of the plaster to give the tile addy a key anyway...
