Over the last couple of weeks I have been building this canopy and finally got it fitted today. I shall get some more pics of it once it has been tiled.

Price up a new gate while you are there?

The arched top looks very odd in a squared frame.
The canopy looks good, is it mortice and tennoned?
Did you treat the bottoms of the posts with anything prior to installation?
The pattern on the barge boards, is that just one you designed, or does it match in with other?
Fairly easy to template...repeatable on longer lengths just by moving the template up I suppose.
Lots of questions, but its the attention to details I like to know.
I've quite fancied making something like that for sometime, have a go at green oak framing type of thing on a lighter scale

Thanks Hitch. Yes all the joints are pegged M&T's. Biggest problem was the semi circular gallows brackets at the sides as these had to be made in three sections and fit perfectly between the rear brackets and the posts as it was delivered in sections. I did put some preservative on the bottoms of the posts and the base before fitting it. That is exactly how I made the pattern on the fascia boards using a template and moving it down for each piece. The design of the fascia was the customers choice. There is also a small finial to fit on the apex of the fascia if the customer wants it fitting. (as seen here)

The gate was bought separately but I am surprised they didn't ask me to make one as that one is pants.
