Help: Cracked Tile

Post by jollie123 »

Hi,

We recently purchased a 2nd hand cast iron fire with surround for our dining room. At either side of the cast iron section is a row of tiles. Unfortunately during transit one of the tiles cracked. The tile is cracked fully into 2 pieces but is a clean crack (no chips etc).

I'm 100% certain we will never find a matching tile. How can I repair this / is there some one that carries out this kind of work?

Any help would be much appreciated.

heeelllooo and welcome jollie123 :welcome: :welcome: :welcome:

you can use superglue but you only need a bead as thick as a bit off cotton thread

lay the tile flat and push the halves together
if they mate perfectly on the flat then glue
if not add support to the tile
untill it mates propperly
if you need to clean make sure its fully supported as above and if its a scraper use wood or plastic not metal

also if you have the option place the broken tile at the bottom row and orientated to make the crack as invisible as possible
we are all ------------------still learning
