I've recently started to do a few youtube vids which was the reason I built this monster pc in the first place after finding that a 15 min HD video took over 8 hours to render on the old one and that was without any colour correction etc.
Well the new one munched through the same test file in 48 mins which was ok but I did kind of expect more
We're talking 3970X extreme hexacore i7 processor with hyperthreading. Two 250GB SSD's in raid 0 and 4 3TB barracudas in RAID 10. 32GB of Kingston memory, Rampage IV extreme mobo etc, etc
Not to mention the mighty GTX680 GPU with 1536 Cuda cores which are supposed to smash rendering tasks to pieces so whilst it was much faster it didn't really swing my pants.
Then I've just realised that the Cuda function comes locked with the Nvidia cards. You have to download the 'cuda drivers then unlock it
The result??? The same 15 minute clip but with full Luma /Chroma correction imported soundtrack and a load of other effects added now renders in 4 minutes
I don't know whether to be happy or pizzed
PS I could put 3 more GTX's in the rig when the price comes down
Macs'? I cream them

I put a link up on the computer game thread but can't even see a https on the link,I'm severely retarded when it comes to computer stuff, hence the ridiculous question...

Click on "Full editor" bottom of the quick reply box...
then on the Youtube tab.......
you'll get something like this...

copy/paste the you tube url in between the brackets, as Razor says remove the "S" from https, preview to make sure it has worked... sometimes you also need to remove "&feature"

But if I'd paid full price for everything it would stand me somewhere around 5k
There are some very nice helpful top banana animals with horns around but I don't know if they can publicly accept any credit - if you know what I mean, say no more say no more

This is all G(r)eek to me, I'm pleased for you, I'm just not sure why?!
Seriously though, I watched your Milwaukee vid and it was pretty good, normally vids are full of urh's and ah's (unless I'm watching the wrong kind) but you didn't and the info was all in there. Good stuff!

Hmmm, my own PC-nerdyness has halted. It's been a good few years since I wanted, or needed a high spec machine for any purpose. Although I downloaded a nice piece of space simulation software the other day only to find the lappy (Acer aspire) isn't up to it
Got to envy the spec and performance though Razor - no wonder you're chuffed!

How much did you pay for the CPU MOBO and RAM? I just got a 5930k Rampage V and 32GB cost me over £1100. Most expensive upgrade ever, but a 4930X Rampage IV and 16GB sold on ebay second hand for £980, so what I paid is not so bad in comparison. Intel enthusiast CPUs seem to hold their value pretty well.
