What is the blue marks that mysteriously seem to appear sometimes?

Noticed it today on some oak id cut and planed a week or two ago.
Why does it appear, and is there a trick to avoid it?

A good sanding and it all came off

It almost looked as iff id cut it with a blue painted saw balde and the paint had come off. Most visible on the end grain

Not really BA, pre cut planks from yandles. All i did was cut to length on my chop saw, plane up the sides, rout the edges and sand up.
No clamps involved, no steel wool, only metal it has come into contact with would have been the actual cutting tools.

As you've said, its not causing a problem, more the fact its plain annoying
