Chrome

Anyone else using Chrome and had problems?

For the last couple of weeks it has been playing up, taking ages to load, blank pages loading, social media buttons taking ages to load?

I am now back on IE and all works fine.

I have uninstalled and re-installed chrome, all to no effect.

Could be a bad extension that's loaded?

apparently if you open an incognito window, it doesn't load them - so if it works, then you need to figure out which is causing the problem.

Open Chrome and click settings > new incognito window
or click start > Run and type chrome --incognito

Mines been playing up.but only on ebay :sad:

Will try the incognito trick. Not that I ever usually use it :wink:

I've just tried that BG.

All I get with a new incognito window is a total blank white screen ::b

I've also reinstalled it and still get the above.

My neighbour had a similar problem...in his case there was some sort of malware that was hi-jacking the browser..

Do you have Mbam installed? if so run it see what (If anything) it finds...

When Chrome is open, click on the 3 bars at the top right of the screen. From the drop down menu select "About Google Chrome." It will check if you have the latest version installed (should be version 38.0.2125.104 m) If not, it will automatically check for updates and allow you to install them. I do know that on social media, some games etc have been having problems because of an update to FlashPlayer. :wink: :wink:

Quite possibly a good call there, I know I was prompted to update flashplayer about a week ago...

Yes I have Malware bytes Pro installed and their anti rootkit product.

I scan my PC daily.

Also have latest Kaspersky and scan with this daily.

Chrome says it is up to date.

I wonder if it's a plug:in that is left. They don't clear up after an uninstall, I don't think.

Try this is you get time:

Close all Chrome Windows
Uninstall it (again, sorry)
Browse to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome and RENAME the folder to Chrome-OLD or something
Install Chrome again

I see lots of Flash related stuff, but also some other issues with the latest version. Should help.

I have now uninstalled Chrome again.

Searched the folder you specified, but there was no 'chrome' folder in google folder.

I renamed google to googleold and re-installed google.

Will now see if there is any difference.

I feel that I may have my annual 'wipe my pc and re-install everything' coming up again ::b

do you know, this is ringing a bell. I had the same issue last year and I vaguely remember a reinstall didn't work and had something to do with Flash Player

I have a feeling you have to do something like
- install Chrome
- rename chrome folder and Google folder to something else. But the offending files were in C:/Documents and settings/ John/ etc and Windows/*
I think I had to delete the Adobe Flash player files too.
I got the solution from one of the main PC help websites so sorry can't be more specific. Maybe check there

I had a bit of a bother with Chrome where Flash would be installed for IE, but Chrome comes with its own set of Chrome. Which means that you are ultimately going to have two versions of Flash competing with one another. This can lead to a number of different issues that have crashed a great number of sites for me (removing the basic install for Flash worked for me).

Firefox is so much better.
