Was back doing a little snag at a job me and my brother did over around 6/7 months this year at nights and weekends for a nice couple wee know. It was a wreck of an old cow shed/byre with nothing but bare walls. We built a timber frame inside,insulated and plasterboarded as well as putting in new Douglas fir beams which are exposed. New hardwood windows and hardwood bi folding doors and a little boiler room cupboard to hide the underfloor heating manifold and boiler.
We built a mezzanine with traditional floorboards and installed a velux up there as well.
The couple were great and just wanted it done over a longer period whilst they could be there after work to muck in a bit!
Sorry for the crap photos,it's on an iPhone and my hands seem to shake as well!
The whole area has a new concrete floor with 150mm kingspan laid. Underfloor heating pipes and a liquid screed was done. Travertine tiles were then installed before the finishings were done.
A flat pack spiral staircase was done,the handrail is a pig to mitre!

Looks like a project and a half there Stevie...Don't envy you with that handrail.

It was enjoyable to do as the folk we were doing it for allowed us to take our time whilst doing it,the guy paid a nice hourly rate and was a bit just happy to know things were being done properly.
He wired the whole place himself and got a sparky we know to sign it off.
He also installed all the underfloor heating himself,not bad for a g.p!

I agree,when we finished it it was a bare shell and had a really big echo.
That's the first of me seeing it with any furnishings and some acoustic wall art,the echo has almost gone but like you said it could do with a burst of colour.

Very nice job Stevie, my Uncle flitted to the borders and bought some land with cow sheds on, plopped a caravan on there and lived in it for 2 years while they converted one into their house and built 2 more on the land.

Granite looking stone, hard as fook and walls as thick as a metre in places, similar to that one in some pics but single stroey, no mezzanine.

Many of his best mates are now sweaty socks, and having met a few they are a sound bunch.

I know a GP that is very good at DIY and will have a go at most things.

That job looks incredibly smart, well done
