Hi
Have only ever done 1 kitchen before with wooden worktop and that was scewed on with brackets
Soon must do small kitchen here in italy and would like to know how you fix granite worktop to kitchen base units ?
Is it just the weight of the thing and silicone holding it.
Also what are thoughts on Ikea kitchen base units for heavy work surface.Have done my main kitchen with ikea units 6 years ago with their wood worktop and so far ok. ( Have you ever asked of prices of kitchens in italy ,so far for 2.5 meters of fitted and mounted kitchen quotes start at Euros 6000 ! so doing it again myself).
thanks

Yes

They shouldn't be any worse than any other units IMHO. Usual applies with a heavy top, i.e. fix the cabs together and fix each unit to the wall behind

I fitted an Ikea oven housing unit recently for my daughter. Carcass seems strong enough but the plastic legs went back. I found some steel tube legs with large plastic blocks via google.

I buy kitchens from Italy and have them shipped and pay a less than 6,000 euros for 2.5m worth and that's with high end brands! Where have you been looking?
As for granite worktops on Ikea bases, yes they can take it but that depends on how well you construct them. If there is lots of play in the units and you don't ensure the feet are supporting the side gables then you could well find yourself in trouble. It has been long time since I have used an Ikea kitchen becuase I don't rate them at all, they are a budget brand but in theory they should be ok if as I say you contruct them correctly
