Tiling over wall paper

is it possible to tile on top of wall paper, or does it need removing first?????

Hi MRc,

All tiling experts and DIY books will normally tell you one thing-DO NOT TILE ON TOP OF WALL PAPER!

This can be obvious but a while ago I was tiling a bathroom and had to strip the paper, it was not embossed paper but had been painted with a few coats. I spent 30 mins and removed about 3 square inches! this was with a steamer.

The occupier was keen for me to finish ASAP as I was being paid hourly, so at her request i tiled on top of the wall paper, they are still stuck now over 3 years on. I did pva the wall first though!

So if the paper is really difficult to remove I would say that you could possibly tile on top of the paper!
