I bought the angle grinder a year ago. Loads more power than a cheap 4-1/2in one, but it is a 5in (125mm) grinder (so consumables are less readily available) and the back handle makes it a 2-handed grip. That said a good piece of kit. I've raked out and done all sorts of stuff at home with it

Some good bits at Aldi too from sunday.

I have one of the angle grinders (previous one speed model) and it has done a lot of work. Just got myself a smaller dewalt though, while the parkside is good bit of kit it is definitely a two hand tool and VERY heavy. For a bit of wire brushing or flap wheel work it is overkill.

Thanks J&K I had noticed that the Parkside stuff was on the heavy side in general

Thanks Rorschach I have had a look at the aldi site that bench grinder looks ok , its got a flexible drive shaft attached to it and the rotary multi tool is about as cheap as I have seen them anywhere

I'll be getting a couple of the grinders myself, they will be re-purposed though as what I really want is the variable speed motor.

The grinder looks interesting.
My current bench grinder came from Aldi about 10 years ago.

The flexible shaft addition could be useful. I see lots of people that use the dremel hung up above the workbench and use a flexi shaft all the time, so this would be a good alternative.
I am not a pro.

Hi JG
I found this is rotary tool on ebay and amazon some time back it is the only one that I can find that comes with the flexible drive and the stand its £25. (only 2 left) which seems to me to be a good price

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Powerplus-135 ... 3a8fd6c0fa

Its on Amazon at £5 more and has good reviews

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Powerplus-Multi ... =powerplus

But like you say as the Aldi grinder has a flexible attachment you wouldn't need one. I wonder if it takes standard accessories

I bought the angle grinder as well. One snag is that unless I'm missing something the knotted wire brush cant be used with the guard as it covers the front of the wheel as well. May have to be modified, as one of the reasons for buying it in the first place was a knotted brush already bought from Lidl that was a bit too big for the 4-1/2" one I already had. . .
Seems like a good piece of kit whatever.

I'm glad I looked in here, I got one of the grinders last week as I want to lay some slabs over the summer and will need to do some cutting. Just been watching the linked video, very useful and informative and I will certainly be doing a lot of research before I start grinding slabs!!
