how old is the motor ?

i have a 07 Civic 2.2 diesel and honda recommed
Castrol Edge 0W30 or 10W30
or
Castrol Turbo Diesel 0W30

if your not 100% i would ask Citroen ,if its been serviced ,what did they put in
dont want to scare you here but if you have to claim for a knackered engine under warrenty and the wrong oil is in they will tell you to swivel

Just pop into your local auto center they will show you which one you need, plus the containers are marked up as well

I use Shell 10W-40 in mine

Just make sure it's an oil for diesels engines, they use a high detergent type oil that captures all the combustion particles.

When I got my wife's Fiesta diesel serviced at the local FMC dealer they gave me a small can of Shell oil if we needed to top up between services.

Citroen normally recomend Total lubricants.
Total Quartz 9000, 5W40 is the top quality reccomended i think, synthetic based.

A lot of the oil compaines have selectors on their websites, such as this-

http://www.shell.com/home/PlainPageServ ... match.html

These common rail jobbies are a bit more fussy than the normal deisels.
Its a bit of a myth about not mixing Synthetic and Mineral oils. Normal Synthetic oils are refined from mineral oil bases anyway.

The only ones they shouldnt be mixed with is Fully Synthetic oils, which are more commonly found in extreme usage conditions, like hi load gearboxes etc.
