Tempted by the parkside 10.8v drill they have on offer next week. While I have got a set of Makitas they are big and heavy, especially the batteries since its an older 14.4v NiCd set. I'd really like a smaller drill that I can just keep in my basic tool bag, really as a glorified electric screwdriver but with the added option of drilling holes too.

So, anyone got one, know if they are any good, gotta be worth a punt at £30 I thought. Secondly, anyone know where/if I could get another battery for it, if I could get a 2nd one then I reckon I could leave the charger at home or at least in the car most of the time.

They don't have the exact model that I can see on there, might update soon though. Having looked at the price however, while they are quite reasonable for a li-on battery, once you add VAT and shipping it is not far off the price of just buying two drills and putting one away as a spare.

I already have a similar vice to that but made by dremel, it's made of steel and very sturdy considering its size.

The Lidl one is not steel R. Unless they changed them........

Pretty sure the Lidl version is aluminium.

Yes the Lidl vice is ally, I just bought one. Only to clip on the bench in the office though to use as a clamp for light stuff like soldering. Too light for proper workshop use I'd have thought. The Lidl one is cheap though. Half the price of the Silverline offering.
I think I'll need a bigger one for when I use the flogging spanner on the Cat D9 engine crankshaft nuts next time I take it out. (Which will be a bit difficult 'cos I don't have a Cat D9 :))

I took a look and I think I'll stick with my Dremel vice instead.

I did give in on the Drill though. Looks like a nice little bit of kit and perfect for what I want. I think a second battery is going to be a no-go due to cost (I may as well buy another drill as it would only cost a couple of quid more) and I really don't need it. I have a set of makita drills with multiple batteries that I use on large jobs, this little one is going to live permanently in the holster on the side of my tote bag to save me having to carry around another bag/box on small household jobs.

I was tempted by the Dremel vice after having a look when you said about your's, but it was a bit more than I wanted to pay for the occasional very light use this will get.

I have the 14.4 Parkside drill, and that's been very good so far. Only fairly light use, but it seems a decent piece of kit. I don't really need another battery for the use I give it, but as you say it's as cheap to buy another drill if you want a battery. Wish Lidl themselves would do just the batteries occasionally.
Nice thing about most of their kit is the 3 year guarantee of course.

I bought the hot air gun & the soldering iron. Very pleased with both & I got a bargain..,.,,,
