Windows 10 Loaded

I downloaded Windows 10 this morning and I have to say it was all very smoothly done. Okay, it takes a bit of time, around an hour in my case, but it is very complete and everything was copied over and returned to my previous settings with no issues. First impression is that they have worked hard to get all the irritating things out of 8.1 but they have kept the functionality in part but it is now added to the Start menu which I find really useful.

Playing around with Cortana as I use Siri on the IPad and I am sure it has to learn your speech patterns as you go along.

So far so good, it feels like the natural progression from Vista shoudl have been.

Thanks for the info there. My main computer is used for business so I am loathe to do the transfer just yet, I want to give it a while and see what others are saying. Luckily I do have more than one computer so I might do the upgrade on the other one first and get to know things.

Well I've got 2 laptops, one running W7 and the other W8.1

I've got W10 reserved on both, so it'll be interesting to see what you all think of W10.

I'm a bit loathe to upgrade the W7 laptop as it comes with "Hearts" in the games.........

So far so good was a bit apprehensive but it went in fine (in about an hour) mind you I really did not see what all the fuss was about 8.1 I found it fine, 10 looks OK so far.

If you decide to downgrade back to Win 7 (or 8.1) You have to do it within one month of the upgrade though (or else yer stuck with it)

Unless you made/have recovery media for your original installation :thumbright: I'm alright - was just given 4 brand spanking new copies of Windows 8 Pro on Monday!

Wine~o - you can hearts Hearts and Hearts deluxe free from the app store - no idea how that compares to what you play, but it's there all the same.

Apparently you can also download a pack of Windows 7 games and install them - but I've not given that a go!

It has taken just over 2 hours to get win 10 working. (You are supposed to "wait a short while")
Its says you get a start button, I haven't. I do have a power option that turns it off, there are also a few "tiles" and some stuff that is "pinned" to the task bar, but you can un pin those.
It also has a new web browser, but I have not tried it yet.
The worst thing for me is the internet connection, I normally connect via an Ethernet cable, it does not recognise it :angryfire: so I am connected via wifi.

I was also expecting some new fangled background pictures or something, nope. it still looks like the original desktop. which is nice.

I would say, that if you do only have a ethernet connection, don't change to win just yet.

Thanks.

I know it should work, but the fact is, it doesn't

I had set it to install Saturday so I had time to make recovery discs, got home from work Thursday evening Mrs adonis said she was half way through typing a letter and it installed :cussing:
there is a difference of opinion on whether to disable WiFi sense though.

And the compatibility check didn't say this was a problem before you upgraded?

It will look a little different, but nothing that would throw you off your A-game!

Start menu looks a little different, colours a little different. Do it! :thumbright:
