External Timber Cladding

Post by stoic »

I own a pavilion style timber building with external shiplap cladding that needs replacing. Is there any reason I shouldn't put the new cladding over the old?

you will hold all the rot or damp in. in the case of rot it will quickly invade the new timber

openings for windows and doors end up with deeper reveals

the eaves end up with less overhang

Spot on answer... Out with the old - in with the new!!!!!

If you're sensible taking the shiplap off, then you can flog it to a reclamation yard!!!! Trust me, they'll buy almost anything if its in reasonable cond....
