what size screw fits what

Post by buslane »

Hello, have to completely refurb a house. Can anyone give advice on what screw sizes, ie length and dia, to fix floor boards, skirting, door frames etc. Would like a list as a reference, anything that is regularly fixed to a wall, floor or ceiling. Thanks Steve

brown plugs 7mm masonery bit 1.5" in the plug plus the thickness of what your fixing
so for example a 20mm batton countersunk 6mm =14mm + 37mm [1.5 "]+51mm or 2" screw usualy 8or 10s
red plugs 6mm masonery bit 1.25 and as above except 6 or8s

screwfix go for all the 500s screws

to be honest although it can be annoying a thread that gets highjacked in a light hearted way is far more likley to get more usefull answers than a one answer thread

as long as the screwfix bitchy queens dont throw there hand bags over here we will be fine :cussing: :cussing: :cussing:

To show respect and politeness is something that is completely alien to Screwfix forum members. It’s properly something to with that part of the brain they had removed at birth.

Iv'e noticed that at screwfix, what could have been a useful site is full of bitchiness and sarcasm, no help to anyone.

At least here we can throw insults, and get them back in a friendly manner, makes life such fun.
