How to joint between aquapanels in a shower enclosure area

As per Aquapanel instructions, we've left a 3mm gap between each panel. We have the Aquapanel jointing tape and now is the time to apply it ... how do we do this?
From what we've been able to find, we ram tile adhesive into the gaps and then lay the (non-adhesive) tape over this adhesive and somehow it sticks! Do we need to press the mesh so that the adhesive comes through and the whole thing sits flush on the surface?
Can we cross a horizontal tape over a vertical one? Or should we cut a gap in the vertical one?
Do we have to wait for the adhesive covering the tape to set before we start tiling or can we just spread more tile adhesive straightaway over the tape and surrounding area and then notch it and start sticking our wall tiles?
