I have two old laptops kicking around and I have stripped out the HDD and the RAM chips. Are they now safe to put into recycling or is there anything else that should be removed?
Thanks

There be gold in them there processors. (There really is, but for two its not worth while)
As for can you put them in the recycling best ask who ever runs the recycle dept. Reason I say this is round here they will take hardly anything, but where I work they will take anything from the residents.
Maybe you could do what I did, walk into a pc repair shop and give them to them.

If you feel socially responsible (no pressure then
) donating them to a cause that recycles such for reuse would be nice. If there's problems with the machines it often makes them beyond economi crepair anyway so, sans HDD and any memory that may be reusable, sling 'em in the bin.

Thanks for that info chaps, our recycling centre has a cage for electrical goods that are clearly taken away for recycling. I was more concerned that I have stripped everything that could still hold data relating to me.

Only the hard drive will hold anything worth getting hold of (Bank details etc.) last one I disposed of I opened it up and hammered it until it resembled a very badly mangled hammered piece of pewter.....

I've never disposed of any old computer without personally watching it getting crushed in the big crusher thing at the local tip.
