If by smart watch you mean one that can receive texts, sync with your phone etc, I don't think you will get one for under £40, let alone recommendation. I also understand that currently its true, the more you spend on one the better they are, still yoo much of a gimmick. I would honestly sat give it a few more months then the prices should come down.
Currently you will be looking at £100 for one that is not too bad.

I saw that one, but chose to ignore it as Dickie clearly said under £40 and yes its close, but where do you stop? Also its reviews are not that good, which goes back to what I said, either spend more and get a not too bad one or wait for the price to come down.

If you can double it, I love these: http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/smart-tech ... 0cbb88284f

It's got a good battery, its not totally in your face, apps for download, etc, etc.

Read reviews.

I had to google *Smartwatch* to find out what it was.

Turns out it's just another gadget I don't need, like Smartphones, Tablets, GPS, iPods, huge TVs, Sky tv, DashCams, Bluetooth, XBoxes and all the other "must have" gizmos I neither want nor have.

It's not always easy being a dinosaur, but it's easier than keeping up with all that stuff.

Good price for the old one, the Steel is the one with voice/colour screen, etc.

The steel one is a lot like my first dash cam, it works, if you buy one you will soon regret not buying a better one (and its still over budget)

Your first link is only a link to "very.co.uk" not the actual watch, and its still over the £40 budget, and its only "black and white" pay more get better.
