I go back too far, but I think Whispering Grass by the Inkspots was in the Hit Parade, where's Woody he'll help me out, 'though he's not that old really.

I added another link in the first post that gives #1's from 1953 in UK ...but from 1940 in US - so maybe worth trying that

Trouble with this game is you play the linked song and then click on a load of others and before you know it - another 30 minutes gone
Have to go - some more MOTR to play
