Removable letter box cage

Dog keeps chewing letters etc when we are out. Final straw was tickets posted through and chewed up!!. Personally don't really like the cages that go on the back as they are ugly and large, and get in the way.

Is there anything that can be easily removed when not needed like this? Even if it's the cage but rather than screwed to the door permanently, be able to be removed when we don't need it.

Thanks

Difficult, ie is all my post, and if buying tickets for example it's normally had to be the credit card address

Why not make a "wooden box" and secure that to the back of the door?

OR

Seal the letterbox and put up

Image (or similar) Outside.

OR

Change the name to that of the dog.............so he will read it, see its for him and NOT chew it

Ha ha, thought if outside box and don't really want one of those tbh either.

Was hoping for a cage, but ready revival of back of door as they get in way as bulky, and unsightly. Also wouldn't need it on all the time, so don't want permanent

Well, if you don't want a cage or a box outside, seems like you will have to make your own then. You could paint / decorate it as you like / blends in. You could put a small L bracket either side and screw through these. (I was thinking of a slide on idea, but the dog may knock it off)

Ah yes maybe attach tiny bracket to slide on yes, think I know what you mean.

She's too small to knock out off, it's just when hits the floor when it's a prob

Why not just buy a wire cage and hook it onto a couple of carefully placed L shaped cup hooks instead of screwing it on, the most you'd have to do is bend the screw attachment lugs a little bit. Then the only unsightly thing is the hooks.

Is the door plastic or wood?
If wood my first thought is to make up a wooden box, in the same finish, to be hung off a French cleat above the letter box.
I guess there is no reason you couldn't do the same thing with a plastic door but the box will probably blend in less.

Other than that Chris's idea above, to use a couple of hooks, is a perfectly good one.
