Hell at work

Post by caravan72 »

Grumpy or suicidal! have been under the quosh latley at work, noised up a line manager about me having been offered a verbal contract over 3 yrs ago to work for another dept but it only lasted 3 months then I was seconded back to my old team, well he insists there is no trace or proof I was ever offered this, even though the father less person was part of my induction! well that lit his fire! Our salary grades were recently regraded and although no one lost money some gained but some peoples salarys won't rise until the entry level salary catches up with what they earn now, I worked out that a 1% year on year rise and it would take me about 25 years to get a raise! while others will benefit at the next pay award, Yeah realy fair! well I lit some other fires and appealed against my grading and it's being heard this Thursday, I won't be there as it is volunteer directors and they are largly isolated from us but maybe it's agood idea I'm not interviewed as I'm about to light another fire, we recently have had a performance related scheme applied to us, it's a scheme where they can get rid of people and I am in an investigation stage! as if there isn't enough of the brown stuff flying around already! So I'm waiting for a line manager or team leader to be given the task of investigating my performance and have just finished ap writing an appeal against this as my useless team leader has made some mistakes during my assessments and I'm going to throw a spanner in there soon.
Have a meeting with the union tomorrow as I know my days are numbered so will need some suppport as I feel my trenches are about to be over run, I have worked for this organisation for 25 years and I'll be lucky to see the year out, we have a generous sick pay scheme and I'm ill but need to keep going until I have some things in place. For about 8 yrs I was denied access to the company pension scheme as they never told us there was one to join while they stuffed there own pots, couldn't take action about this as my wife until recently worked there as well and I was in fear for her job but she was forced out about 18 months ago due to stress caused by the same father less person that is on my case, and 2 periods of being off ill, she just took retiremnet at aged 60.
Me! Grumpy, what would give you that impression! The last four days have been hell, I went in early today so I could be the first one in or I would probably have had a panic attack! another 2yrs and six months and I would have retired anyway, hopefully when the pension situation hits the fan I'll probably be off ill and they would not want the bad publicity so maybe a package might be on offer, Yeah here's yer books!

Mate, I have no constructive answers except you will be better off if you can find something that gives you peace of mind. Start thinking of a job or retirement plan that gives you contentment, not angst. You've been screwed by the establishment as so many get, because you can't just hit them with a club and they use words and law and power to fuk you over. If you have the nature inside you, make them pay all the way but for most it is best stir up as little sh*t as possible. It is not cowardice to sit tight when you have family and security to look after but man it burns to swallow it sometime.
I'm not a nice person. Take a photo on your phone of the nastier pieces of work, don't let them know. Take them home and print. sh*t on the pictures and burn them while cursing their souls to deepest Hell. Then get a job you like but pays less and go to work happy.
Easy for me to say maybe but been there.
But what the? It's obvious all our lives that most people and organisations are corrupt, from monarchy down through politicians. We put up with it for peace and order, not because we are stupid, so praise to you. Get your spit in though, curse 'em then make it right by being happy while they brew in Hell. I wish you well and good luck.

I feel for you, it is a horrible experience to go through. You are between a rock and a hard place and it seems to me that you are up against an organisation that wants you gone. Is it possible to negotiate a severance deal? In the long run it is better to do that than suffer on any longer because winning a reprieve this time will only extend your misery. You could do some searches for porn, or worse, on your colleagues computer and dob him in if you were really vindictive

Good luck with whatever happens :thumbright:

Another way out is to get a long term recurrent illness. As long as you get proper certificates and so-on it makes it harder for them to manufacture reasons and any severance will/should be covered by Insurance they have. Has your back been stopping you bending and turning lately to the point of sleeplessness? Does your leg go numb for no reason? (Don't be seen playing bowls der).
What about dizzyness? Keep falling toward right? Eyes going weird on you for no reason? Could take a couple of years to follow-up tests. I'm sure you have a complaint that has been troubling you for years and is now getting chronic.

Yes Jape, good move. The hard to prove illness that only has to last a year for the severance to kick in.

Went to work today and as advised by my daughter i spoke to a manager about my concerns about my job and the fact I'm feeling harrased, managed to get my personal file and copy various papers from it but the union guy over all wasn't impressed by my situation so on a downer there but he did mention a few things and wanted me to feed back once I have sourced some information, A second causality today, one of my collegues is also under investigation, sh*t does it get any worse, he has a final warning that runs out in August! Union guy said that companies usualy invoke a Personal performance plan and ear mark you with a support manager/person to guide you through say a 3 months period of improvement as he said he was surprised that my company have went in a 2 month period straight to investigation phase, so If I last to this level I could suggest this as way of improving my performance to include Viagra! well it's one way of getting a raise! Seriously, I'm doomed! and my wife went through this as well just need to plan when I become sick and take all the sick pay I can get. Joking aside, I've been here before and it aint funny even with comedy relief! really wanted to get to 60 and go but not to be, not sure how this will bear out just have to suck it and see! sorry no reference to Viagra again!

Decended on by the CEO this morning as I'm also appleaing the salry grading, he advised that the committee want to interview me, then i asked if I could have representation, he balked then asked if that would be a fellow worker I then said could I have have representiation. he siad he would have to check this out, new straight away I had lit another fire! well coupled with other things they were running around like arses all day trying to contact me and I came back to work to have to deall with tons of emails and the CEO descending on me again, Yes I can have representation but they have now produced a list of rules to govern this, Yeah supplied this at 17.17pm tonight! looks like they have just thrown this together as I launched this about a week ago and they are panicking! Now have the hand book concerning disaplinery action and even i can see it's full of holes.
Just holding on long enough to f*ck things up! and do I so want to do this! its war! oh and yes my materials for my new fence has been delivered and yes! thry F***ed up the order! at least I can call them up and get what i want, just need the younger parts of the family to come and dig the holes! Grrrrrrrr, no commitment so far but there will be some nasty reminders re -this, anyway tomorrow is another day in my battle with my employers! hope to get something from this and move on to the next impending battle before I give in and get Prozac!

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

Yes sairy! or should I say Salary grading, found out from the meeting that we have 51 employee's and 22 people have gained from the grading! Me, I have to wait 25 years to get one @ 1% per year, there's a line manager thats on my case, seen him heap stress on other people before and in fact he did this to my wife before she went sick then retired.
So my days are numbered will wait until my investigation so I can my version of events across then off sick, the manager concered for the last 2 weeks I have totaly blanked! oh and I'm even being pulled up for using exclamation marks in my case notes, although I use them I don't even know what the exact term means.

Doomed!

Can we just get a few facts straight ? You have been working for this company for how many years ?

You have had a disciplinary before ? if so outcome of that ?

are you currently on a warning ? if so what for ?

PM me if you don't want to share on a public forum...
