Wire wrapped around drive shaft UNDER Flymo Strimmer cup
Using strimmer today and it suddenly stopped. Closer inspection shows a length of copper wire wrapped tightly around the drive shaft underneath the strimmer cup. I cannot get it out without removing the whole strimmer cup/drive ferrule(?) and have no idea how to take it apart. Any help, anyone, please? Thanks, in advance, of help.

Can you reach the wire with long-nose pliers? Can you see a loose end of wire at all?
What model is the strimmer? Flymo must make lots of different ones.
Someone may know how it comes apart or be able to guide you to an owners manual.

One day it will all be firewood.

Re: Wire wrapped around drive shaft UNDER Flymo Strimmer cup
Ayjay - thanks for the reply. Yes, I can see both ends of the wire and have tried removal with long-nose pliers. No luck, I'm afraid. I have the manual for the Flymo Multitrim Revolution MET230 but it does not show you how to remove the strimmer cup/drive ferrule to get at the wire-wrapped drive shaft. Still hoping someone knows how to dismantle this as the manual does suggest you can buy replacement parts!

Is it somewhere in here?
Knowing how it fits together may help with dismantling.

Here is an exploded view http://www.shop.flymo.co.uk/electric-gr ... ef=1083073
Seems like you need to separate the two sides f the body to get to the shaft that has the wire wrapped around. It does not seems too hard but make sure you use the correct screwdrivers so you do not mess up the screwheads.
