I am tiling a shower room and have ripped out the old shower, basin and WC. I'm going to be using floor tiles and am tempted to put those down before the new vanity units and WC -- just because that seems easier than cutting floor tiles to fit round the WC. (OK, so I won't tile all the way under the vanity units but since they're slimline units I don't think that'll be a problem if I ever need to replace them.)
Before I finally lay the floor tiles, can anyone suggest any benefits or disadvantages to
a) WC on top of floor tiles
b) floor tiles cut to fit round the WC
With my limited tiling experience (a) sounds a lot easier (only have to cut straight lines!) but I wanted to check I'm not about to do something stupid.
Thanks,
Ian

Hi Ian,
Welcome to the forum.
I would definately tile the floor first and then add the toliet etc.
I'm pretty sure that all the professional tilers also do this as it is far easier and faster and looks a whole lot better.
Just be careful when you are fitting the toliet or other bathroom furniture as it is common for the floor tiles to get scratched when moving the toilet etc. into place.
I think Mudster normally puts a towel underneath to protect the tiles until it is in position, then removes the towel and fixes it.
I don't know anyone that would fit the furniture first and then try and tile around it as this would make the job much more difficult.
Good luck with your project
