Project Sofia

Hi Everyone, Here is our project we started planning for in January and have now completed. The aim was to create an open plan living area from 4 existing rooms which included an existing single storey extension.
We had a local builder do the major work but I have done the rest of the work. The floor was insulated and relaid. The ceiling was vaulted and velux windows installed.
The kitchen is the Sofia range from Wickes and it was straightforward to fit.
I am really pleased with the outcome.

Thanks, we started on 13th June. The building work took 2 weeks, then it's been down to me and my wife evenings and weekends. We have just finished now but the building work created other jobs like redecorating the lounge and a few other jobs which we have to do but they won't take too long.

the handy man and wife! sounds catchy to me :D I think for only two weeks you've managed to do some pretty impressive home renovation there! and your garden seems quite tidy from within!

Hi Dimitri,
The builders took 2 weeks to do the knocking down of walls and adding the RSJs. Before they started, we had stripped it back to a bare shell so they could just get on with the building work. That speeded things up.
After they had finished we were able to fit the kitchen but we started first by decorating the shell first.
The garden is well established so it tends to look after itself. :huray:

Having a sizeable plot myself I can say with certainty gardens never look after themselves..........

As a seasoned gardener you will be well aware then that established gardens with shrubs and annuals don't need that much looking after, by saying looking after itself, the garden just needs the weekly prune and tidy up and grass cutting. We only had pots with bedding on the patio so they are easy to look after too.
This enabled us to concentrate on our project and not let the garden runaway with itself.
Maybe I should have been clearer in my first post? :dunno:
