As if there isn't enough going on, we realised the floor was cupping on a join in our own bathroom late last week.At first I didn't think anything of it - I just thought the little boy had been playing with water and that it would dry up.

It didn't.

Took the side of the cabinet off and

It was BLACK with mould, stinking and soaking wet. Basically one of the flexi-hoses has developed a dribble and it's caused no end of damage.

We've gone from this.....
to this.... (it's all out since that photo now )
All because of this......

That's what happens when everything is inaccessible, a small drip easily becomes a major expense

The right side panel comes off Scruff to access the trap and manifolds. It was held on with magnets which is how I saw it had gone south.

Same for the toilet - the top and front panel were all held on with magnetic clips. Just didn't think to look until it was too late. The frames been removed as it was all black with mould

I must have done 100s x £1000 of damage over the year smashing expensive tiles of the walls and floors where there was no access, so well done you if there was.

The irony of putting the access panels in, but not using them - didn't really have reason to look, but could have saved a lot of work if I had. If I can replace the damaged floor (have a spare pack), then it's going to be paint, some 2x2 and time to get ti all back into working order.

It's just time, as always. On the brightside, all my tools from the bungalow are coming back this week - no idea where I'll put them, but they are coming back....

This was also caused by just a drip. Must have been going for years before it started appearing through the ceiling below. I've no idea how much damage below the shower tray has been caused yet.

OK....so I'm complaining about very little in comparison! Wowsers. That's bad!!!!!!

A plumber acquaintance of mine from a long way back was telling me once he got sent to a house to investigate the water in the cellar.

The property next door had been empty for years and a leak on a pipe in their cellar spraying on the party wall had worn right through the brickwork and flooded the cellar next door.
