I've just moved into my first home and I'm in the process of trying to fix all the things that are broken. One of the biggest problems is that the previous owner seems to have cut a hole in the plasterboard by the front door to access the stop cock and value. This is now letting cold air pour into my home.

As a short term fix, I've stuffed it with bubble wrap. See pic. This has stopped some of the air but I would like to tidy it up a bit too as well as stop the heat loss. I'm on a tight budget too. Does anyone have any ideas how i can box it in cheaply? Can I get a ready made insulated box to cover this?

Thanks!

Hi, most "boxed in things" are custom made, and the down side is, when you need to access it you can't because..............it has been boxed in.
I really do like your bubble wrap idea, its cheap, does the job and is easily removable.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

Thanks, someone-else! Ha. The bubble wrap was moment of inspiration. I bought 75m of the stuff to help me move thinking that I wouldn't need it al. It's been a godsend!

I might leave it then and wait till i can afford it boxed in properly.
