i have the bosch blue version cost about £80 naked[no battery/charger or kit]so less than £30 for a complete kit [£17]and iff you also buy the 250 bit box[£12] as well

I thought the same, but in the last year I've:

- altered the keeps on several doors which had ben incorrectly fitted (i.e. new lock, old keep, so the lock mortise didn't fit)
- cut the tops off two Spit cordless batteries carefuly so that they could be recelled
- cut back a really awkward RSJ flange so that we could get stone slips installed (because an angle grinder would have destroyed the lead-clad oriel window next to the RSJ - and in any cas we couldn't get even a 4-1/2in angle grinder close enough). This took a lot of cutting wheels, but saved having to take-out and replace a £10k windowm unit to correct a complee cock-up
- ground a blob off the bottom of a ceramic vase so that it would stand up straight
- cut new screw slots in damaged screw heads so we could remove antique brassware from old doors for re-use on new doors

And that was just the start, with a basic Dremel kit. Once you have one you'll keep finding things it can do, really

Bought mine years back to make a bit of carving that had to be repeated on some chairs easier, but it's been used for loads of stuff. Get the big kit of tooling for it. The small diamond burrs are useful too.

12 Volt though.. Is that going to have any go ??

its actually 10.8[3x3.6v cells] the bosch one is great so no reason the lidle one wont do well at the price the tools are very small remember 1/8" and 1/16" shaft [3.175mm/1.5875mm]

I bought the Dremel type tool last year. It’s been pretty handy as I’ve used it to engrave a couple of things and I repaired an expensive pair of sunglasses which broke half way up one of the arms. I drilled a very small hole in both sides and glued in a small plastic rod to act as an internal splint.

I’m reluctant now to buy any power tools from Lidl. I think their power tools are very good for DIY/light trade use but their pricing structure for additional batteries is disproportionate to the cost of the power tool. Plus the fact if you wish to upgrade the Ah of the battery you need often need to buy another charger. This happened to me last month when I wanted to purchase an additional battery for my Parkside impact driver

Personally I try and avoid their cordless tools unless it really is an amazing deal, in which case I treat it as a short term tool knowing the chance of replacement or spare batteries is almost nil. Don't hesitate on the corded tools though.

Looks like I'll be investing in a Dremel sometime soon then [emoji1360]
