Thanks in advance for any help.
I want to seal and polish/oil/wax a slate floor (Yorkshire Dales stone cottage, original large slate floor slabs from 1850s). They have just been professionally cleaned by machine, so are clean but dull. I think I need a penetrating sealant and then a product to give some shine ( preferably a satin or semi-matt finish, not gloss).
What do you recommend, please? Suggestions for products and where to get them, very welcome.

is one product. there are other retailers out there, just make sure it's suitable for natural stone/slate.

Isn't slate impermeable?
I'd have thought any finish was going to be on the surface.

You might want to look at the Lithofin range of products. Something like this might be suitable

Yes, that's what I assumed - otherwise, it wouldn't be much use on roofs, would it? However, apparently, the penetrating sealant does 'soak into' the surface for a couple of mm, especially with old slate floors. It stops grease, wine, etc., soaking in and staining the surface.Dave54 wrote:Isn't slate impermeable?
