More wood and metal

[Hitch]

I know some of you get bored of my stuff, but hey ho
Few of the better bits and bobs ive done the last couple of months...


Firstly, cable reels, these are used in the production and testing of Towed Array sonar cables. (Navy types may be familiar)

One pic mostly for Col, Played with the settings on the CNC plasma we have, to get this cut, 25mm plate....not bad

Secondly, one of our customers runs a wood chipping business, theyve spent a lot of money lately, so wanted one of their chippers to last them a bit longer, but in desperate need of a new feed roller....
This feeds the timber into the main chipping roller... Reused the ends from the original roller as they were heavily machined to house hydraulic motor and bearings.... new barrel, rolled in one piece, and teeth added. The original was made of a series of strips, ours must be much stronger. 8mm plate barrel, and 12mm teeth.

Next, specially made tool trolleys. These house specialist testing tools and equipment, mechanical and electronic.
PC monitor bracket on top, keyboard shelf, 19" rack mounts, lockable drawer...
Nice sheet metal job. original design was pretty dire, so I reworked somewhat. I'd still have done a few bits diferentely, but limited because of the materials in for it. Antistatic tops. Powder coated by a specialist.

Lastly, the recent sunny spell made me want a garden seat.... anything from about £120+ for something solid or £70 for a cheapy flimsy thing from B&M
I wanted a project anyway, so knocked these up from scratch, drew up a quick plan on CAD, then set to it..I did curve the seats slightly to aid comfort.

Top work Hitch; most impressive.

The 1" (sorry 25mm) plate sure brings back memories; I cut a fair bit of this from the age of 16 in the pit using BOC Sapphire oxy/acetylene burning equipment; these days as you say it's mostly CNC plasma cutting. Visiting the NCB central stores in Barnsley with a driver and wagon carrying the burning kit to collect RSJ's used to be a nice trip out.
