Carpet to tile door bar

Post by Me9141 »

Hi all,

Just having some carpet fitted to newly renovated house we rent out.

The kitchen has been tiled and a lot of leveling compound was used.

Now it gives a high difference of just under 40mm between the top of the tile and the concrete floor.

Carpet fitter says he doesn't have a door bar/threshold to fit that kind of height.

The carpet is about 10mm thick and the underlay is about 12mm thick.

Just looking for an alternative solution.

Anybody have any ideas? experienced something similar?

My initial thought is to buy this and screw/glue into place.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

A friend of mine used a product called carpet shims, basically it was a ramp that is fitted to the lower floor and being wedge shaped it brings the carpet up to the tiled height.

I don't know where he got them from but you are bound to find some on the web, like this

Your best call in my opinion would be an "L" shaped profile 20x40 for you to place just on top of your tiles and hide the inner side ...
