Hello people

Just got some new door handles, does anyone know what the gold coloured screw is for? Didn't get any instructions with the handles.

You drill an hole straight through the door and then put an handle on each side of the door, then unscrew the gold coloured screw and then push the screws- one part male and one part female through the holes and then screw them back together and this then holds the handles to the door

I was thinking along those lines however the female bit is too large to fit in any of the holes in the handle. Can I just do without the gold screw and use normal screws?

have you checked both sides perhaps one plate has slightly bigger hole sizes

seems strange that the 2 halves are different colour as this must effect the way you assemble as the colours must be matched to somthing!!!

The female parts don't fit in either side, I tried all the holes.

Found this page which shows the long screws in position and going through the latch. Trust me to buy handles where the long screws don't fit and latches without holes for said long screws.

Looks like there has been a mix up with the handles or the screws somewhere along the line

Just use normal screws Jenny, use ones with the thread going all the way up.

Hmm 2 screws may not be sufficent. Especially if you have got kids who sometimes swing around on door handles.

You have got the wrong bolt for sure. Contact the supplier and ask him to post some out to you or go in to the store.
