14mm engineered wood floor...do I glue the joins?

Post by ali »

About 2-3 yrs ago, we bought some oak wood flooring from John Major's son of all people, lol....when he had his flooring place in Inverness.

He touted this stuff as being the bees knees and dead easy to fit.

It wasn't. :cussing: I had such problems trying to get the joins together without gaps that I ended up taking up the few boards I laid and went off and got click laminate instead. One day later, floor down...happy person.

Anyway, we were left with these flooring boards and nowhere to put them so they sat in the cupboard under the stairs ever since (so they are well acclimatised).

I now have a place for them and the room width is slightly less than the board length so I only need 15 or so full length boards so it should be easier to fit them. I also now have a tensioning strap which should help. I'm told that was why the edges wouldn't pull tight the first time round?

Questions......anything in particular I need to do whilst trying to fit these.....and do I need to glue the edges of the boards? Neither OH or myself can remember what was said about glueing when we bought the boards. If so....is evostick wood adhesive ok?

If I glue....do I just glue/fit/move strap/glue fit/move strap etc till the end...or should I do it in smaller sections and let the glue dry each time?

Be greatful for any advice at all guys. TIA.
