Aldi has a moisture testing device on sale this week. It is shown testing damp in masonry, but can also be used with wood. But is oak likely to give the same reading as pine with the same moisture %? And how does temperature affect the readings?

Hi Mooncat
A moisture meter will give the moisture content of any timber you press the probes into, temperature shouldn`t affect the reading, bearing in mind that the moisture content alters with its surrounding over time.

I agree with wood doc
moisture is moisture the readings should be the same despite material. The only thing to consider is the quality of the equipment you are using.
