AVG is a pain, what anti-virus have you got?
I have AVG free version, and it now takes well over an hour to scan my computer and finds nothing, it never used to take this long, only seems to be since a few updates ago, so I ma going to give it the heave ho.
Question: what antivirus are you using?

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

I am still with AVG. Yes, it does take a time to scan but I just set it running and pop back every so often to see that the computer(s) have not fallen asleep. To be fair I found Norton and McAfee to be a bloody nuisance. I shall stick with AVG

Dumped it as it caused problems for my aging pc,
Went with Microsoft Security essentials less intrusive but don't know how thorough it is just do a quck scan 2 mins Real time protection on all the time
Also run malwarebytes but don't have it loaded in start up just run it once a week or when I remember

I ditched AVG some years ago when one particular update caused my computer to run really slowly, it transpired that many others also had the same problem at the time.
I now use Avast: the free version has some annoying characteristics but nevertheless it runs effectively and efficiently.

One day it will all be firewood.

I tried AVG many years ago, worst thing I ever installed.
Completely fooked up my PC, then couldn't get it to uninstall, even with their so called proper uninstaller from their site.
Ended up wiping and reloading Windows etc. What a pain.
I have been using Kaspersky Internet Security for years now with no problems, apart from one glitch when it updated, which they sorted within 24Hrs.

Norton - I have been using it for years, long gone are the days of it being bloatware, £25 a year covers all my pc's and mobile devices, in the last few years that have gone over to a less complicated system, only thing that does bug me is the auto yearly renewals (what can be turned off) as I tend to shop around a get a code card for less money, as for the IT and large network side of things Norton enterprise hasn't let me down either, and the uk support is very good,
I never had a virus that it didn't block and I have recovered many systems with Norton Power Eraser (NPE) due to poor antivirus protection from other vendors
Avg free is utter tat its like installing mailware on your pc, its full of pop ups and adverts these days
One min while I put my flame suit on

Various reviews rate Bit Defender Free very highly and so I have used that for the past couple of years. It is still rated high today. No problems so far.

Comodo Internet security Premium.
Must have used it for ten years.
That's the firewall and AV but I think they do just the AV.
It's found viruses in downloads, and when I sent them a "false positive" they got back within 24H.
It's free.
Windows 10 has it's own security, but I'm used to Comodo.
They all take ages for a full scan.

Re: AVG is a pain, what anti-virus have you got?
I use Linux Ubuntu for web browsing. It comes with Comodo AV but TBH I didn't even know until I found it doing system scan! I'd been running Ubuntu for around 2 years before discovering Comodo was loaded!
Given that the worst kind of viruses are those that are 'exploits' means that Linux and its derivatives are safer than any other OS as back-door exploits are virtually impossible AFAIK. Windows however....... leaks like a sieve.

Don't have any issues with AVG, I think I disabled notifications though which stops 90% or more of the intrusive pop ups...
I also have free version of MbaM installed.
