New Firefox Browser
I have used Firefox for years now and I have just had an email offering their new updated version. Any views on this?

Re: New Firefox Browser
I use firefox and it updates automatically to the latest version. I'd check the e-mail addy that your e-mail has come from... sounds fishy to me.

Re: New Firefox Browser
I'm on 55.0.3. and on checking I can see that I can update to 56.0.0. I've never had an email to tell me about an update and I've used Firefox for years.
At the top of your browser page, click on *Help* - *About Firefox* and see what version you're on and if you want to you should be able to opt to update it from there.

One day it will all be firewood.

Re: New Firefox Browser
Looks kosher, the website addy is correct and there's other sites saying that their new quantum has just been released.

Re: New Firefox Browser
Thanks for that Wino I am on version 56.0.02, I note that I am on automatic update setting but it has probably not done it as I do not shut my laptop down often as I leave it on sleep mode most the time as I am active on the laptop the most. I will restart later and see what happens.

Re: New Firefox Browser
It's a new all singing all dancing version, intended to match/better Chrome, so they are doing some trumpet blowing.

Re: New Firefox Browser
I just did a restart and it auto loaded 57.0.00. I got to say that it is a lot quicker. I have just had to customise it a bit to get my bookmarks and stuff where I want them. So far so good.
Thanks all

Re: New Firefox Browser
Like wine~O said it auto updates, but this time it didn't I too downloaded the 56.0 version and it auto updated to v 57. So far I quite like it, and yes it is fast. The page reload button has moved too. Its now on the top left.
So to that I must say thanks dewaltdisney

Re: New Firefox Browser
You can drag the icons to the right hand side SE. Go to the three lines and select customise, it was easy to do.

Re: New Firefox Browser
I've been looking into this a bit more this evening. One of the big problems with updating Firefox used to be that if you did it as soon as an update was available then most of your add-ons and extensions would probably stop working.
A couple of years ago now Firefox brought forward a new system whereby updates were coming out every couple of weeks and most of the add-ons and extensions were catered for in a much better fashion than when the updates were months apart.
If you check which add-ons you have, you may see some that have a yellow text box after the name with "Legacy" written in the box, from what I've just read, none of these will be updated after V.57, (although there might be compatible alternatives) if I ever update to 57 I'll be checking carefully beforehand that I can go back to 55 or 56 afterwards.
I hate updates - get it right before you release it and then leave the bloody thing alone if it's working!
