Win10 Upgrade problem

Asus X556U - downloaded latest Win10 upgrade and the lappy has locked up with the circulating chocolate starfish whizzing away.

Can't do anything with the usual recovery modes (accessible but they don't resolve the issue) and the last thing I can try is a full reload of software, losing everything in the process (yeah... I know, don't mention 'backup' )

Done the 'remove the battery' trick and back to the starfish....

Any other things to try?

boot from the dvd/usb stick it will either allow you to reinstall or go into the recovery menu

Or do you mean update

...yeah I meant update, not upgrade

KB4022405 is the guilty culprit. I've booted to safe mode but it won't allow any repairs/reloads whilst in this mode so it's a catch-22 situation. Looking to be a complete re-install at this stage :cb

pop in a windows dvd or usb stick it will then let you in to a recovery mode

https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/hel ... ry-options (click on Use installation media to restore or reset a pc - this tells you how to make a boot media)
