Are you planning to STOP using it?

I ask based on the recent Russia-phobia announcement that Kaspersky software 'may' be monitoring your internet usage - like Google, Facebook, GCHQ and the NSA don't....

Personally I'm getting pretty pizzed off with all this anti-Russia rhetoric and concerned for the aggression and 'intent' that Western Governments seem to be having to incite conflict.

Is this Kaspersky issue yet another attempt to muddy the waters or do you consider it a genuine risk?

If its not Russia, Its China, tbh its the media that blow it out of all proportion, Everyone knows what everyone else gets up to - the modern age just means is easier to do it

I don't use it, but my take is that yes they could, but no they wouldn't.
They seem to be well respected in the field, and if they were caught out it'd be the end for them.
Like you say k-e, we all "trust" lots of companies from "our" side things.

I have used it for years, get it free each year from Barclays.

I have no intention of stopping using it.

Got an email from Barclays today saying they were stopping it for all new customers!

I would be more worried about buying a Chinese Lenovo computer, as how do we know they haven’t put something in the chip to spy on the West? Ha ha

Russians dont like Kaspersky either 1) for the spying reason 2) it make your computer sooo slow....
I used it 10 years ago for a short period of time, since then never again.

Surely a bigger worry is Huawei. Turns out that this major supplier of network and switching gear may have security flaws in some of its' broadband and mobile infrastructure equipment. and these guys are the world's biggest producer of telecoms equipment and is a major supplier of broadband and mobile network gear in Britain...

I've heard (but can't confirm) that all the Intel processors are designed in Israel - the recent exposure of the 'back door' into them is another piece of evidence that ALL modern CPU's (as well as software) have holes in them that certain people can exploit should they wish to do so.

Oh well, I got a Huawei phone, computers with Intel inside and Kaspersky on Windows and Android (so microshite and google watch me too). GCHQ and the CIA will get any info they want from my provider and on it goes... In the days of windows NT the safest windows server was one that was switched off whilst a nearby local authority used to switch all their computers (including servers and whatever else they had) at 5 o'clock.
