Marble Tiles Falling off Wall

Hi, Just found this forum whilst looking for a bit of advice so I am new here. :hello2:

I am tiling a shower room in marble tiles, half white half black. The white ones have stuck fine but the black ones are just falling off the adhesive after it has set. The adhesive is stuck like sh*t to the walls but coming clean off the tiles. What can I do to prevent this?

Tiles are Nero Marquina, they have a kind of mesh backing glued to them.
Walls have all been tile backer boarded.
Using a good quality flexible cement based tile adhesive which says it is for natural stone.
I have tiled loads of bathrooms before and never had this problem!

Thanks in advance for any advice.

The only thing that comes to mind is that the cement board is absorbing the water from the adhesive before the tile has had a chance to bond, try wetting (not too wet) the cement board before re-tiling, will slow the suction down.

Is the mesh backing meant to be left on the marble or was it there to protect the tiles in the packaging. I guess the white ones also had that

Do the white ones also have this mesh on them?
