Hi all new to the forum.
Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on my car issue...basicly it's making a whining sound when slowing down and seems only to be in 3rd and 4th gear the sound is very similar to the sound when reversing a car quite fast. The car feels fine to drive goes into gear fine and pulls very well. It's a 1.9 Cdti astra 2008. If anyone has any sort of advice or ideas it will be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance everyone.

I'd change the gearbox oil for a start and see if that improves matters.

Re: 2008 astra gearbox whine?
it could be a number of issues, 3-4th syncro/basket or diff bearings springs to mind - gearboxes are plentiful as there common - I will look up to see what box it is
edit. With out the reg it could be 1 of 3 gearboxes - if its the 150ps its likely to be the M32 (6 speed)
