Drilling into Travertine Tiles

Post by hammer9500 »

Hi, Apologies if this question has been asked before but I would like to know what type of drill bit and anything to watch out for when drilling into travertine? I see a number of posts that relate to ceramic but was not sure whether to treat travertine in the same way?
I have a blind and mirror that needs to be put up and I am quite wary on how to drill into it without damaging the tile.
Any tips will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
H

Diamond coated hole saws are probably best--

Quite soft :thumbright:

Start off with a good masonry bit.......pilot hole first.

Then whatever size you need. :thumbright:

If your not sure...........try on an offcut :thumbright:
